Life is Grave Jessi Hardesty
Jessi Hardesty is an anxious mark-maker. Much of her imagery is based in folklore and the occult. Via the ritual labor of woodcut, she seeks to channel the forgotten, macabre, and ephemeral within her work. She is most well known for her one-of-a-kind hand-carved planchettes.
Jessi Hardesty received her MFA in Print Media from Cranbrook Academy of Art and her BA in Studio Art from Salem State University. Outside of her studio practice, Jessi Hardesty is a Division Chair, Program Director, Professor, and Curator at Carroll Community College in rural northern Maryland. Her work can be found in private collections and galleries across the US and Europe. She can be found on Instagram at @jessihardesty and at her website, www.jessi-hardesty.com.
