Senior Exhibition 2021 > Darren Rivers

Through the years my work has been a self-exploration of emotional stability. The main focus of my work is to convey that there is a personal connection between the people or characters in which I draw or turn into animations. The personal connection is in the way most of my portraits are planned, the facial expressions are conveyed precisely with intricate details. Both digital and studio art has been focused on in order to broaden my horizons and help me work through improvements incrementally in each media. I use proportions and color to express how the human form relates to its environment and in relation to others. The processes are influenced by that of the relations between the subjects and their impact on myself and their professional realm. In an instant in which a person has passed away I make a conscious effort to illustrate a background that shows how meaningful they were and what about them made them special, whether it was an artifact, a halo, a flower, etc. Anything that makes a person special in one’s life is conveyed through my art giving an emotional touch.
