Onward: Jonathan Nepini & Katie Ogorzalek
Onward: Jonathan Nepini & Katie Ogorzalek features work by 2019 Art–Graphic Design alumni, Jonathan Nepini and Katie Ogorzalek. After graduating from McDaniel, both Jonathan and Katie pursued a Master of Arts degree in Graphic Design at the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, MD. While a graduate degree in graphic design is not necessary to enter the field, these two students were motivated to learn more and expand upon their love of graphic design that was seeded here at McDaniel. Jonathan and Katie’s thesis exhibitions were impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and shifted from an in-person show to a virtual format. Pursuing and developing a thesis is already a stressful endeavor and when confronted with the challenge of a disrupted final semester in graduate school, Jonathan and Katie kept going. The work in this collection exhibits the final thesis book projects required of students in the MA in Graphic Design program at MICA. As a department, we are proud of Jonathan and Katie for not only pursuing further specialized education in design but also for their drive to keep going in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
